The GeForce GTX 1660 is a very good and recommendable card, mainly due to its price-performance ratio and quality. When we take into account its more efficient, but also much more expensive cards from the RTX series, I would even say that the GTX 1660 is currently the most profitable card. Its only real competitor may be the GTX 1660 Ti version, which tempts with better performance, but its price is higher. However, if we buy a GTX 1660 to play in 1080p and 60 fps, we do not have to make any compromises in the best and most demanding games. This construction should be able to cope with good games without any problems for a few good years, and the great overclocking capabilities will only help us in this in the long run.
Overclocking the GeForce GTX 1660 from Zotac overclocks very well, its core worked very stable at 1845 MHz and if it was possible to raise the power limit even higher, we would certainly achieve an even better result. GDDR5 memory was also very eager to overclock and reached a clock speed of 9800 MHz, giving a performance increase by an additional 10 percent.
The power consumption of the GTX 1660 is a bit surprising. Electricity consumption may be higher than that of the GTX 1660 Ti. This is due to the GDDR5 memory, which has a higher energy requirement. The GTX 1660 is faster than the GTX 1060, but uses the same amount of electricity to run.
Temperatures A simple cooling system does its best to ensure the correct operating temperature of the TU116 core. Fortunately, he succeeds, though not without problems. Given the simplicity of the cooler, the core temperature during operation is 85 degrees Celsius. When idle, the card reaches 36 degrees Celsius, which is a perfectly satisfactory level.
The volume of work is correct, during a longer game the card becomes audible, but not bothersome (39.9 dB). On the other hand, it is almost inaudible at rest, generating sounds with a volume of 20.9 dB. The situation changes dramatically after OC, when the fan spins to almost maximum speed - it is difficult to talk about the comfort of use.
The model from Zotac stands out from the competition with a good, but not perfect work culture and quite good appearance, and is not much more expensive than the cheapest constructions. If I had to choose one of the GTX 1660 models, it would be the one from Gigabyte or Zotac with preferably 3 fans, but 2 will also be enough. So if you are looking for a card that is one of the best, if not the best, under $ 700, and that will allow you to play all the games in good quality, the GTX 1660 will be a very good choice.
