EVGA is quite a popular company that is famous for decent and quite nice graphics cards. We should not be surprised that, following the example of other manufacturers, it has already decided to present its versions of new NVIDIA systems, the GeForce RTX 3070. Three non-reference variants have just been shown: XC3 Ultra, FTW3 Ultra and XC3 Black. In the review below, we will deal with the GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra version.

The EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra card is factory overclocked to +90 MHz. The average GPU frequency in games is 1967 MHz. This translates into a real increase in productivity.

These performance figures make the RTX 3070 the perfect choice for a huge crowd of 1440p gamers, but the card also has enough power to run multiple titles at 4K 60 FPS, especially if you want to tweak the settings a bit. The RTX 3070 is also a great choice for 1080p Full HD if you want to drive a high refresh rate monitor at 120 or 144 Hz. At just 1080p 60Hz, that's overkill, unless next-gen titles overstate the hardware requirements, which is very unlikely.

The RTX 3070 FTW3, EVGA cooler has adapted the heatpipe configuration to the RTX 3070 requirements, and the PCB is also quite different, now using a 12 + 2 VRM configuration. The EVGA heatsink with three slots and three fans works very well. The game temperatures are excellent, just 64 ° C at full load. The noise level of 35 dBA is by no means "loud", I would call it "well audible", which is quite sufficient for a card in the RTX 2080 Ti class. I have no doubt that if EVGA had allowed a slightly higher temperature, their cooler could have been louder. Since the card comes with dual BIOS, people would still have a choice between reduced noise or cooler temperatures. When you're not playing, the fans on the FTW3 Ultra will turn off completely for a perfect, noise-free experience.

EVGA has increased the power limit of its card to 270W, this helps to unlock extra performance as the NVIDIA Boost algorithm has extra headroom to boost to higher frequencies. While the boost timer rating suggests otherwise, we see it in top performance out of the box. The EVGA also gave overclockers a decent range of manual wattage up to 300W.

GPU overclocking worked fine, the reason is power limitation which allows you to increase GPU power during overclocking. The OC memory is also impressive, reaching over 2000 MHz, which is over 20% more than the default 1770 MHz. OC memory on the RTX 3070 is a bit easier due to the GDDR6, which immediately shows memory instability issues during OC testing, not just with degraded performance as on the GDDR6X.

According to the EVGA RTX 3070, the FTW3 Ultra will sell for $ 1,200, which is a large amount for me on the GPU. However, it gives a lot of overclocking possibilities, but it is the best if not the best graphics card for this amount.

PROS

- performance similar to 2080Ti

- good cooling system and work culture

- good gaming performance

- pretty good temperatures

CONS

- only 8 GB of VRAM.
