Random Access Memory is the operating memory of the computer. the easiest way to understand what is RAM is by imagining the temporary memory where your computer stores processes and data. And when they become unnecessary, immediately removes them from there. So it is a memory, thanks to which we can open many tabs in the browser at the same time, additionally run a music or video player and have a conversation on social media without noticeable drops in computer performance. RAM is the operational resources that keep your computer running fast and smooth. RAM also allows you to switch quickly among these tasks, remembering where you are in one task when you switch to another task. As a rule, the more memory you have, the better.

Type of RAM

DDR2 RAM standard newer and better than DDR. It provides a higher clock frequency than DDR memory - you can count on clock speeds from 400 to 1066 MHz. Another advantage is the reduced energy demand compared to previous standards. DDR2 RAM memories are available for sale in modules with capacities from 256 MB to 4 GB.

DDR3 is a modernized solution with even lower power requirements, higher speed and lower voltage, only the number of pins remained unchanged compared to DDR2 memory and is 240. DDR3 modules are commercially available in capacities ranging from 512MB to 8GB and are still widely used in slightly older devices.

DDR4 the latest standard for DDR RAM is DDR4. It is currently the most popular operating memory, but due to the fact that individual RAM standards are not compatible with each other, DDR4 RAM is mainly used in newer devices. DDR4 RAM became common in 2014.

The frequency of operation of DDR4 RAM can be from 2133 MHz and more. currently on sale, we can easily find bones with the operating frequency of 3000 or 4200 MHz.

Basic terms

CL or delay also known as timing. Specifies how much time elapses from sending a request to RAM until data is read. The lower the latency, the better the memory performance. The standard is CL 16, in more expensive modules we will see CL 9 - 11.

Frequency has a direct impact on the speed of its operation. For standard office work, RAM chips with a speed of 1600 - 1866 MHz are enough. However, if you are a gamer or programer, look for RAM with a minimum frequency of 2133 MHz, and preferably above 2666 MHz.

RAM memory the more data the processor will be able to read.More capacity of memory will give you more the stability and smoothness of the computer. The standard is 8 - 16 GB.
